Resolution Code of Practice

  • Posted on

Resolution is a community of family solicitors and other justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way, considering the needs of the whole family, in particular the best interests of children.

Resolution Code of Practice

As members of Resolution the WSP Family team have signed up to the Resolution Code of Practice, which commits members to:

  • Reducing or managing any conflict and confrontation; for example, by not using inflammatory language.
  • Supporting and encouraging families to put the best interests of any children first.
  • Acting with honesty, integrity and objectivity.
  • Helping clients understand and manage the potential long-term financial and emotional consequences of decisions.
  • Listening to and treating everyone with respect and without judgement.
  • Using our experience and knowledge to guide clients through the options available to them.
  • Continually developing their knowledge and skills.
  • Using the Resolution Guides to Good Practice in their day-to-day work.

Resolution membership means:

  • Listening to clients, being honest with them and treating them with respect.
  • Explaining all the options and giving clients confidence to make the right decisions.
  • Helping clients focus on what’s important in the long-term.
  • Helping clients balance financial and emotional costs with what they want to achieve.
  • Working with others to find the right approach and the best solutions for the client and their family.
  • Managing stress in what can be an already stressful situation.

This week is Resolution’s Good Divorce Week. As members of Resolution, we are supporting their campaign in the hope of finding #abetterway for our clients.
