The legal framework that governs our use of cookies

  • The Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018)
  • The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUAA)

The DUAA received Royal Assent on 19 June 2025. Its core provisions, including significant changes to PECR’s cookie consent rules, came into force on 5 February 2026. The Act does not replace the UK GDPR or PECR; it amends and modernises them.
