Lasting Powers of Attorney - WSP Solicitors

Lasting Powers of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) allows you to plan ahead for if you lose the ability to make your own decisions or require assistance in making decisions. The LPA allows you to choose someone you trust to manage your financial affairs or to make personal welfare decisions on your behalf. At WSP we’re here to help make the whole process less complicated.

Doing what’s right for you

There are two distinct LPAs. A property and financial affairs LPA allows decisions to be made for you on a variety of matters, including operating your bank or building society accounts and buying and selling a house. The LPA can operate at your discretion, if you require assistance in running your affairs, even while you retain the ability to make decisions yourself. A LPA for personal welfare allows decisions to be made on your behalf concerning your care, your living accommodation and consent or refusal for you to receive medical treatment.

Helping you with deputyship

If a relative or friend has lost the ability to make decisions for themselves and cannot create a Lasting Powers of Attorney, we can assist with an application to the Court of Protection for the appointment of a person suitable to manage their affairs known as a Deputy. If necessary a member of our team can be appointed by the court as a Deputy.

We can visit you at home, out of hours if necessary, if this is more convenient or comfortable for you.
