Portrait of former Gloucestershire cricketer, is painted by Russell Haines for WSP’s Art In the City

A portrait of former England and Gloucestershire cricketer, Jack Russell MBE, is being painted by Russell Haines in advance of this year’s WSP Art In the City event organised by Marketing Gloucester.

Now a successful painter with his own gallery in Chipping Sodbury, Jack will be painting and exhibiting at Art In The City on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 July.

‘This is our third year as sponsors of Art In The City, and we took no persuading at all from Jason as we think it is such a great event for the city. There is so much work going on behind the scenes to develop, innovate and bring business and tourism to Gloucester. We at WSP are fans of the city we love living and working here.’ said Judi Bonham Managing Partner of WSP Solicitors.

The festival will feature a Plein Air live outdoor painting competition on the Saturday, an Open Art competition and an Art Trail featuring many local artists and groups exhibiting over the entire weekend. Russell Haines is the creative director of the festival which takes place this summer. He hopes to follow his portrait of Jack with the competition judges PJ Crook, Swarez and Richard Parker Crook.
