Fiver Fest March 2022 WSP Solicitors return as Sponsor

  • Posted on

WSP Solicitors have renewed our sponsorship of Fiver Fest again from the 12th-26th of March. This time around the Festival will take place across 5 towns close to our heart as a business.

Over 100 towns and thousands of businesses across the UK are joining together to bring you very special £5 offers, to highlight the contribution to the economy that local shops and businesses bring. It is also an opportunity for those businesses to say “Thank you” to their loyal customers who have supported them through the pandemic; and Dursley, Nailsworth, Stonehouse, Stroud and Wotton-under-Edge are all joining in.

Tony Davey, Chairman of the Stroud & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce, who is providing the administration support for the towns (alongside Dursley Town Council in Dursley), said “The independent shops and businesses are what make our towns special and unique. The community support for local businesses has been amazing during lockdown, but it is easy to slip back into old shopping habits now that things are returning to normal. So this is a little nudge to say ‘Our local businesses are still here, we are still serving our community and we appreciate your support. And of course we are great value!”

Each of the five towns has its own Fiver Fest, with a common message.

If every adult spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops and businesses, it would mean a significant amount per year going directly into our local economy. That can lead to more jobs, a better high street, a stronger economy and a nicer place to live. Makes you think doesn’t it?! Just altering where we spend can bring an additional £1.3million per year to Dursley, £1,2m per year to Nailsworth, £1.5million per year to Stonehouse, £4.5million per year to Stroud and £2.2milliion per year to Wotton-under-Edge.

“These are significant amounts of money that will make a significant amount of difference to our adapting and evolving town centres. Shopping locally provides great value for money, goods with provenance and top-quality service and expertise.” Tony adds. “To date we have 80 businesses registered, so this looks set to be the best Fiver Fest yet.”

WSP Solicitors, with offices in Stroud, Dursley and Gloucester, are supporting Fiver Fest in each of the five towns. Their support helps the promotion of the event and to ensure the participants receive support packs that are free to them. Silas Miller, Marketing Manager of WSP Solicitors commented “We have supported Fiver Fest in Stroud a few times now. The growth of the fest into five towns locally is testament to how fantastic the campaign is. As a local and independent law firm, with roots in Gloucestershire stretching back over 250 years, we are delighted to champion support of the local economy, through Fiver Fest.”

FIVER FEST is a free to join campaign, devised and run by Totally Locally, a Grass Roots High Street Organisation that has been helping businesses and High Streets to help themselves since 2010 with incredible results.

Totally Locally founder Chris Sands said “Over 100 towns from the North of Scotland to the South coast of England now take in Fiver Fest events on a regular basis. It’s a campaign that sees incredible offers from £5 massages, to £5 veg boxes, £5 walking tours, £5 lunch deals, £5 ghost story-telling, £5 axe-throwing session and even £5 Scottish dance lessons! Independent Business owners are really inventive with their offers, and we encourage them to also promote their neighbouring businesses offers too. Fiver Fest is about everyone working together to promote their town and high street as a whole, instead of individually. If lots of shops have great offers on, the trip to the high street is really worthwhile and fun!

Simon Waldren of Totally Locally said “We’ve seen huge increases in footfall during Fiver Fest times, with many businesses reporting their best shopping days outside of Christmas”.
