Child Law Paralegal

A paralegal role where your work truly matters

You’re looking for more than just another paralegal job. You want a role where you’re trusted, supported, and given the opportunity to grow, while doing work that genuinely makes a difference.

As a Child Law Paralegal at WSP, you’ll be part of a specialist team supporting children and families through important and often sensitive legal matters. Your contribution won’t be peripheral. You’ll play a central role in helping cases progress smoothly, compliantly, and with real care.

This is a role designed for someone who takes pride in doing things properly and wants their work to have purpose.

What this Child Law Paralegal role offers you

From your first day, you’ll be treated as a valued member of the team. You’ll work closely with experienced legal practitioners who involve you in their matters, trust your judgement, and actively support your professional development.

You’ll gain hands‑on experience across child law cases, develop your legal and client‑handling skills, and build confidence in a supportive, well‑structured environment.

You’ll also benefit from a hybrid working pattern, giving you flexibility alongside the support of a collaborative office‑based team in Gloucester.

Your impact as a Child Law Paralegal

In this role, your work directly supports both clients and colleagues. You’ll help ensure matters move forward efficiently, accurately, and with care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting new and existing clients through onboarding and early case stages
  • Preparing and maintaining compliance, risk analysis, and matter summaries
  • Drafting correspondence and legal documents under supervision
  • Managing case files and keeping records accurate and up to date
  • Communicating confidently with clients, third parties, and colleagues
  • Carrying out legal research and supervised legal tasks
  • Supporting the financial administration of matters, including invoices and expenses
  • Monitoring key deadlines and helping cases progress smoothly

Rather than being confined to repetitive tasks, you’ll gain broad paralegal experience that builds both confidence and capability.

About you

You don’t need to have done everything before, but you’ll bring the right mindset, care, and motivation.

You’re likely to succeed in this role if you:

  • Have experience in a customer‑facing role, ideally within legal or professional services
  • Are organised, reliable, and attentive to detail
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally
  • Are comfortable using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
  • Take initiative and manage your workload effectively
  • Care about delivering a high‑quality service to clients

Previous experience as a paralegal or within child law is an advantage, but not essential. What matters most is your approach, potential, and commitment to developing your career.
