Senior Associate | Commercial Property
David Ashcroft joined WSP in May 2026 as a Senior Associate in the Commercial department, bringing with him decades of experience across commercial property, company and commercial law.
Admitted as a solicitor in 1975, David began his career working in Lincoln’s Inn and the City of London. He has remained in practice ever since, advising a broad range of clients on complex commercial matters both in the UK and internationally. His experience spans commercial property transactions, corporate and commercial advisory work, and specialist work in security and defence contracts, supported by holding high-level MOD security clearance.
David’s commercial property expertise includes acting on significant retail leasing arrangements, including transactions in major shopping centres for a well-known Scandinavian household retailer. His wider commercial work has included involvement in major international projects, such as the privatisation of nationalised industries in Slovenia. Alongside his legal career, David has also held leadership roles in governance, including serving as Vice Chair of Governors at Hereford Cathedral School.
At WSP, David advises clients on a broad range of commercial matters, with a particular focus on Commercial property transactions including property acquisitions, diposals and leases.
He is particularly experienced in helping clients navigate complexity and uncertainty, providing clear, practical advice that supports long-term decision-making. David recognises that businesses are currently operating in a challenging and unpredictable global environment, and plays a key role in helping clients manage risk and maintain resilience.
David was attracted to WSP due to its strong reputation as a client-focused and approachable firm in Gloucestershire. In his role, he is looking forward to building relationships with clients and supporting the development of junior members of the team.
